I am playing the waiting game as well, since 00z is not far away. I am having trouble seeing the 12z Euro. I use the NEXLAB site and I am getting last nights run. Does someone have another good Euro link? Since I am at work it's not as easy to play on the web.
I think the heaviest will be Monday night and Tuesday, but the GFS has some pretty decent snow on the ground by Monday afternoon, so the timing is still a little uncertain.

The scary part is all media are in agreement on this one(somewhat). I dialed up wlwt.com,wcpo.com, and dialed the 513-345-1212 weather for Wkrc, and all seem to predict heavy snow/freezing rain with SIGNIFANT ACCUMLATIONS. And to note, on the WKRC phone line thing, John Gumm is kinda teasing people telling them to stay tuned to the 11pm tonight. Guess that means there's another model run between now and then.

I haven't checked whio.com yet, but wdtn.com's Randi Rico is calling for 4-7 inches. A sure bet: IT WILL SNOW IN THIS AREA TUESDAY!

I got a quick look at the ECMWF from Unisys... Excellent position for a major snowfall here...

Are we chatting tonight? Just wondering...

I missed it last night, couldn't talk anyway with my sore (strep) throat. Much better today. smile.gif

John Gumm and I chatted earlier and agree that this has everything we need for a record storm. Yes, there is another model run...the 00z NAM, which he will have for the 11 PM. The GFS will be starting then, but he might have an early look at that too. That's what I'll be doing here for the 11...

OK, I'm hooked! blink.gif I can't get away from this forum and I am looking forward to the conference. I get ragged on by my family for being so caught up in the weather anyway, but this has me taking a real beating. BUT IT IS WORTH IT. I love reading everyone's input on this forum and since I can't get my fix from Rich A. on "the channel that shall not be named", this is a great alternative. Thanks for your enthusiasm Rich!!!
LET IT SNOW!!!!!

Thank YOU! It means so much to hear the kind words. We all take abuse for our passion, but we'll be the ones sitting back and enjoying the storm while everyone else panics...because we don't just predict the weather, we create it!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha....

Okay, just one of my megalomania fantasies...

Welcome to the forum and thanks for jumping in... rolleyes.gif

All this talk about the amount of snow, and I'm already tired and havn't plowed a flake yet. I see I'll be up well over 24 hrs trying to keep up with the snow biggrin.gif

WxLuvr
Yes, just talking about it can drain your energy, until it actually starts, and then you get your second wind...which creates blowing and drifting of course. smile.gif

Absolutely... I need my cut of the Kroger / Biggs profits from this one, and then I can retire. Maybe we should set off the sirens on Monday...
That seems odd, especially for Accu-Wx

Kroger and Biggs are alright, but the real pros who panic go to Sams! You can buy a case of soup, crackers, pasta, pop, cookies and 37 staplers! There was a guy buying diapers and he doesn't even have a kid, or know anyone who does. He just had to get them "just in case". wink.gif

I wouldn't doubt it. I should have remembered Sams. You can get enough to ride out the winter and early spring in the safety of your bomb shelter.

Rich A. What is so different about this storm, with the potential for well over a foot, as compared to a "normal" significant snowfall for this area which produces 6-10 inches?

The amount of cold air in place, which is very unusual for Feb. Secondly, the abundant tropical moisture involved. Third, the excellent lift expected from the surface through at least 15,000 feet. The potential for thundersnow, a huge Canadian high, etc. This is not a typical winter storm.

What you need to do is get your wife a computer so she can join in. We've got two computers going on here - my husband's on his home inspection message board and I'm here.

But it's all good clean fun and we are learning SO MUCH!!!

Here's another site I use for model data (mostly for the non U.S. runs)

http://meteocentre.com/models/modelscep.html

It carries the GGEM to 240 hours at 00Z and to 144 hours at 12Z. The UKMET to 144 hours and ECMWF to 168. The main choices are SLP and QPF, so the Plymouth site is best for the other data.

There's also the PSU e-Wall

just looked at the nws for Blanchester and they now have the high for Monday at 31, which is a few degrees lower than earlier, also have snow a chance on Monday at 70% and Tuesday at 60%. Okay, I know there is another Rich on these boards that lives in Fairfield, and suffice it to say I don't live too far from there in West Chester. So what is an honest guess, as of this particular time, for how much accumulation would be reasonable to expect here in southern Butler county?

That other "Rich" is the genius behind the voice chat about to start for Yahoo Messenger users. I am going to hang out here since I am at the TV station and don't have access to a microphone, or to Yahoo for that matter.

Hi Rich, I'm a newbie too tonight...
I was just looking at the Ohio State (numerical Model Output) and i think that I'm looking at the 00Z model that you were refering to earlier. If I'm looking at it right, it looks pretty impressive in 72 hours.

Yep... Or FOX might be later, who knows. Depends on how the race goes. The ABC will be "live", the FOX is taped, so in the ABC I will have the latest model guidance.

You're BOTH geniuses!

Miss you at....ahem....the "other" station. But hope things are going well for you and your family.

I don't have a Yahoo alias either, so I'll just hang around for a while until it's done. Maybe I'll play a game of Chess against the computer until then. (I'll probably still lose, but it passes the time. laugh.gif )
